Gossip Mill
Damn, someone must have sold a hell-of-a-lot of “Rack City” singles to afford this type of purchase. Although his former landlord in Malibu is currently after him for skipping on his $16,000 per month rent it, looks like things are looking up for the Young Money rapper.
Several months back it was revealed that Kendrick Lamar and Lady Gaga were working on a new collabo together tentatively titled “Partynauseous”. It looks like we’re going to have to wait for an official record between the pair because the song isn’t currently listed on the tracklist for his debut. Gaga took to her website to clear the air. Blame it on management. Darn.
I apologize to the fans that this situation with Partynauseous is confusing. To it clear it up I must explain this. When I collaborate with an artist i work solely with them, not with their camps or management. Its purely organic and creative. I love Kendrick dearly as a friend, but was not willing to compromise musically to the changes his team was making to my music. This is why I am not his record. I have a very specific vision as a producer and songwriter, and I always have. That song will be released at a different time, for a different project. I love you, and think you should check out his stuff because he is truly great. He’s a good kid, its just sometimes a mad city. -LG
Don’t forget, Good. Kid. Mad. City drops October 22nd.
Looks like it’s going to be quite the season on American Idol, as judges Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey continue to duke it out at the auditions. This week, Nicki and Mariah got into a semi-brawl during auditions after their egos got the best of them. Things got so crazy, Carey alleges that Minaj threatened her by saying, “If I had a gun, I would shoot that b***h”. Mariah reached out to The View‘s Barbara Walters and described what went down and even implied that she’s stepped up her security to protect herself. Ha! Sounds like Mimi’s a tad scared.
Chris Brown had one hell-of-a-week. After clubbing it up with Rihanna late night in NYC and then announcing his breakup with girlfriend Kurrueche, Breezy drops a small video about his struggles over the past few months. In a somewhat drunken state, Brown asks the questions whether a person can love two people at the same time…and we assume he’s talking about Kurrueche and Miss Rihanna. Although he believes he can do just that, he knows he was brought up better so it’s all up in the air now. Here’s part of his rant:
I’m a little drunk so I’m gonna be honest. See, y’all don’t really get the real Chris Brown but I’m gonna be honest. I’m stressed out. It’s not about the music cause I love my fans. It’s just, when you share history with somebody, and then you tend to fall in love with somebody else, it’s kind of difficult.
Is there such thing as loving two people? I don’t know if that’s possible but for me, I feel like that. Y’all probably like, ‘What the f-ck is he talking about right now’ but I am being real. I don’t want to hurt either or. I’m not trying to be a player, or a dog, not none of that. My mother raised me differently, so I just can’t. I don’t know man, a n-gga be stressing. That’s what n-ggas do.
The life of Chris Brown
This really should be called, Another Day In The Life of Chris Brown.

While Jay-Z has been playing at the Brooklyn Barclay’s this week, Meek Mill snuck in a show or two and even got HOV to preview his debut album, Dreams and Nightmares. This may be customary for people like J. Cole or Rihanna, but I’m not quite sure Jigga previews new albums on the regular. The album doesn’t drop until October 30th, but apparently Jay is already a fan.
“Letting #hov & @_youngchris listen 2 #dreamsandnightmares wen hov tell ya shit hot….it’s hot!,”, tweeted Meek after getting Jay’s approval.
Anyone else fairly excited for this project to drop? Peep the album cover and official tracklisting after the jump.
50 Cent might not be able to get the support he needs from Interscope, but rising rapper Chief Keef sure has their attention and now confirms he’s inked a record deal with the monster label. More from Keef:
“I’ve been talkin’ to a lot of labels, but I just noticed that Interscope got people like 50, Eminem. They was talkin’ good to me. They was talkin’ like I was talkin’ and I liked that. All these other labels, I was talkin’ to ‘em, but it’s time anyway for me and I’m goin’ with Interscope.”
Don’t you wish you were a fly on the wall at club WIP last week? Ha, so do we! According to the NY Post, Drake may possibly be charged with reckless endangerment charges for his involvement in the club brawl with Chris Brown last week.
Although it was reported that Drizz may have been arrested during his concert at Jones Beach if he didn’t turn himself in, it looks like he’s now working with authorities. MTV caught up with YMCMB boss Birdman who backs his guy and says he absolutely did nothing wrong at the club that evening.
We all know that 50 Cent and Oprah haven’t always had the best thoughts about one another. Although they’ve had unofficial beef for years, the duo put their differences aside and posed together at the Rap moguls home. This Sunday, Fifty will appear on Oprah’s program The Next Chapter to speak on his $100 million empire, music career, personal life and more. Hey, they make a good couple! Ha!
Hopefully you remembered that Curren$y and Big K.R.I.T. both released their official debut albums this week. Interested to know how they did for first week sales? Spitta’s The Stoned Immaculate and K.R.I.T.’s Live From The Underground are both set to push 40-45k copies for the week of June 5th. Not bad, although I did think Spitta was going to push near 100k. Expect the numbers to improve as more singles are released, etc.
After exchanging some choice words with Flex earlier in the week about why she was a no show at Hot 97′s Summer Jam concert last Sunday, Nicki Minaj is forging ahead with her music. Severals fans pinned her down on Twitter to get her to reveal her next single from her sophomore set, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded. Nick revealed that her next single will be “Champion” featuring Drake, Young Jeezy and Nas. Expect a video to come in the next few months.
