Truly one of my favorite artists Lupe Fiasco confirms that his upcoming LP Food & Liquor 2 will be released as a double-disc album. During his chat with Fuse, he revealed that the first single “Form Follows Function” will premiere on May 22nd. Gotta love his single titles. He always comes up with creative titles that almost always represent something going on in our world.
After Game dropped several new tracks yesterday, Billboard gets the chance to premiere yet another one entitled “Skate On” featuring Lupe Fiasco. The song was supposed to originally appear on Game’s The R.E.D. Album but will now be featured on his new mixtape, California Republic due out today. Production by Pharrell.
Mikkey Halstead and Lupe Fiasco address the recent string of violence in their hometown of Chicago on the new track “Gone”. Halsted explains the track:
In light of “37 SHOOTINGS, 46 VICTIMS & 9 MURDERS” during Chicago’s first ‘warm’ weekend, the Trayvon travesty, 6-year old Aliyah Shell, and in honor of my cousins Ismail & Malik that were gunned down last summer…I felt as though this was the time to drop this song. Shouts to Lupe for helping me paint a vivid picture of what goes on everyday in Chicago and every other ghetto in America. Also, shouts to David ‘D.A.’ Doman & Jim LaVigne for providing us the perfect canvas to paint upon.
Special Dedication to Blair Holt and the hundreds of CPS students lost to senseless violence.
WE CAN NO LONGER WAIT FOR OTHERS, SEEMINGLY UNAFFECTED BY OUR ISSUES, TO SOLVE OUR PROBLEMS FOR US. SPEAK OUT AND SAY SOMETHING, BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, DO SOMETHING.
During his show Saturday evening in Portland, Lupe Fiasco revealed that his upcoming album, Food & Liquor 2 is complete and says he is considering releasing the project as a double-album. For all those fans of his mixtape, Lupe revealed that he will not be releasing any more tapes. Bummer. At least some good news came out of this. Hopefully Atlantic Records doesn’t bail on him like before.
DJ/Producer Bassnectar recruits Lupe Fiasco for the title single off his upcoming album, Vava Voom, due out on April 10th. Have a listen to this electrifying new single.
Lupe Fiasco took to his website this afternoon to announce the creation of two new projects: Food and Liquor 2, and a new collaborative project with Pharrell. Not sure on the release date for the first or the joint project, but news should be coming soon. Still wish that CRS project was on its way.
Lupe Fiasco and DJ Sky release their first offering from their DJ collaborative EP, Don’t Drop The Flag, by remxing Lupe’s Lasers track “Letting Go” featuring DJ Kue. The project drops in the next month or so.
Could it be that a new record is in the works? Doesn’t sound that way. According to LupeEND blog, Lupe Fiasco recently walked in on a studio session between Tyler, The Creator and super producer/artist Pharrell. These three wise men could really put together a sound record. Let’s wait and see.
